It’s hard to believe it’s been over 10 years since Mandy Moore graced us with new music. However, she is back and saving us from the summer heat with her new single “When I Wasn’t Watching.”
Although Moore hasn’t released any records in the past decade, she has remained very much active in the public eye, particularly with her acting career. She is currently playing the role of Rebecca Pearson on the hit NBC comedy/drama series This Is Us as well as the voice of Rapunzel in Disney’s Tangled: The Series.
Back in the late 90’s and early 00’s Moore was pit against popstars such as Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson, and Christina Aguilera. Now, she is returning to her musical roots with “When I Wasn’t Watching.” According to the press release, Moore points out, “The idea of diving back into music after so much time and personal change was really intimidating to me for a while… But then I finally realized: I’m the only person who can make this move. It all has to start with me.”
The song itself has a dreamy laid-back vibe that blends some of her early 00’s ballads with the folk-pop elements of her previous record Amanda Leigh. “When I Wasn’t Watching” is the lead single from her forthcoming seventh studio album due early 2020, via Verve Forecast.
